Supporting small business

Enterprise Development Trust

Enterprise development (ED) is about devoting funding, resources, expertise, opportunities and time into helping entrepreneurs establish or grow businesses. In South Africa, ED is primarily targeted at people and start-ups in disadvantaged communities that generally lack the resources to enable fledgling businesses to get off the ground.

South Africa’s specific economic history means that ED initiatives are often part of Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment strategies within companies, in terms of South African black empowerment legislation.

Enterprise development strengthens communities and enriches general society by:

Making efficient use of capital and resources to grow the general economy throgh localisation.

Creating new value for local communities and the general economy.

Creating jobs and business opportunities in disadvantaged communities that lack the resources to reate new business.

Teaching skills so that workers can access job opportunities and become socially mobile.
